Application Procedures, Deadlines, and Decisions
The American Mideast Leadership Network (AMLN) is now accepting applications for its 2010 Untied States- Syria Grassroots Diplomacy Program!
From July 30-August 14, 2010, selected American University student applicants will travel to Syria and be civic ambassadors.
The program's primary objective is to bring together American and Syrian university students in forums that allow them not only to address salient topics, but also to develop strategies that can facilitate the progress of Syrian-American relations. While attempting to form a bridge of civic understanding, students discuss political, cultural, personal, and familial issues to dispel stereotypes and misconceptions that run rampant in both American and Syrian media outlets.
Participants will engage in:

- Attend daily Arabic language classes that are designed and taught by a Damascus University professor.
- Interact with elected officials, heads of organizations and religious officials. That gives participants a unique opportunity to gain knowledge and serve a true American civic ambassadors.
