Family Services

The AMLN Family Services is an Arabic-speaking and culturally sensitive organization in Astoria, Queens to target the needs of the underserved Arab immigrant community. We aim to empower the Arab communities in the United States through legal and social services, leadership development and immigrant education programs, and to raise awareness of the common values and aspirations that young Arab immigrants share with their peers in the United States.

With the collaboration with our partners, the AMLN’s wide range of social services, offered to the underserved Arab American community primarily to women and children focus on the well being of the Arab American children and families strive to support and strengthen family’s ties and prepare families to fulfill their American dream and help them to be an active part in the American society.

The AMLN addresses the numerous social and economic challenges faced by the growing population of Arab immigrants. AMLN operates a youth program, scholarship for Arab American students, a legal service and referral program, a women empowerment program, Higher education program and a language program including ESL for adults. AMLN also provides auxiliary support services including benefit enrollment assistance, translation, and cultural sensitivity training.

The AMLN Family services program is designed to improve the well being of children and families in the child welfare system and reduce the use of foster care in the community. AMLN is looking to working with your organization to identify families at particular risk of out-home-placement who could greatly benefit from preventive services.

Legal and Immigration

AMLN's Legal Program provides immigration workshops, and information legalization, permanent legal residency and citizenship eligibility assistance in immigration applications, immigration consultation with attorneys, accredited representation , interpretation services, case management and referrals.

Citizenship Preparation

For those who wish to become a U.S. citizen, AMLN offers a free, citizenship-preparation course that prepares non-U.S. citizens for the naturalization process through Immigration and Naturalization Services (INS). The program prepares students to take the USCIS Naturalization Examination. Topics covered include, American culture, history and government. Students are given information regarding the paperwork, INS forms and fees and preparation for the USCIS interview.

Career and Employment Workshops

Our highly-motivated staff assist young Arab-American and other students and professionals in navigating a difficult job market to pursue rewarding careers and a better future. Through our partnership with WorkForce 1, AMLN assists job seekers with résumé preparation and interviewing skills that are critical for success.

English as a Second Language (ESL) Classes

Speaking English is fundamental for successful integration into American life and society. AMLN offers beginner and intermediate English as a Second Language classes that focus on developing grammar, conversation and writing skills. New classes will be held twice a week and a new 8-week semester will begin mid-November.

Community Health Workshops

AMLN serves to empower the community through education. Bringing experts in the fields of oncology, women's health, psychology and nutrition. AMLN organizes monthly Community Health Workshops addressing prostate and breast cancer, domestic violence sensitivity and access to medical care and health insurance.
